Hi, my name is Jan Owen and I am thrilled to have just joined staff with e3 Partners as a Discipleship Coordinator in the area of worship. After spending most of my adult life as a worship pastor in the local church, I now minister by sharing the gospel and discipling and equipping believers around the world. I will be working primarily in the country of Rwanda, where we have already begun the work of discipleship with many of the church plants begun there in years past. There is a revival going on in Rwanda and we praise God that we have seen thousands of decisions for Christ as many new churches are birthed all over the country. The harvest is indeed bountiful in this country! As the church in Rwanda grows and flourishes, the need for teaching and discipling increases. Leaders must be equipped. New believers must be encouraged. The church must have some resources so that it can do it's job well. And that is where I come in.
I work with leadership to help plant churches and share the gospel just as any other team member does. But I also do an additional work of discipleship as I follow up with mother churches and their church plants and provide some additional encouragement and equipping by providing a free conference entitled "A Worshipful Life". I spend time with church leaders and pastors studying how to live a life marked by worshiping God. We use creative learning experiences, we look at the Word of God, and we worship together. At the end of the conference each attendee is given a six week devotional study to take home, use, and reproduce for use in their churches so that they may be strengthened and firmly grounded in the truth of who God is! Praise God! The testimony we are receiving is that God is using these moments to strengthen His church!
As I prayed about working in the villages of Rwanda, God brought me to this passage from His Word: "And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few, therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into the harvest." - Matthew 9:35-38
This word from the Lord confirmed my call to go! I hope you'll partner with me!
