Andy Gordon

Welcome to my E3 page, thanks for visiting. This is where I will display information of upcoming trips, blogs, and much more.

This upcoming summer, 2010, I will have the opportunity to partner with our God to help establish churches and strengthen believers in different areas of Ecuador. My tentative plan is to spend 6 weeks there, during that time I will mostly be on various trips with different group from the states. I ask that you would pray for me, the people of Ecuador that I will be reaching out to, and if able, help support me financially to be able to stay for this period of time.

Thanks, Andy Gordon

This week has been really good. Preston and I finally were able to do a small group type deal with 15 kids who wanted us to come back to do a bbq so we did that today. They cooked us steaks that were amazing. Then we shared with them and they accepted Christ. Im really worn out and ready to be at home!
Halfway through week in Ventanas

This week has gone pretty good so far. Hotel is pretty decent. Our community is odd in that they had a church that broke up and is just now meeting again so most are christians however they dont want to learn about god. So this week is more getting people involved and interested because most are already christians...the pastor that Micah and I are working with is super. He is really young and is already full time ministry. He and his wife each day go to visit and care for those in community. And his wife sat down with us to ask what we like to eat so we always have awesome food!
Update for Week

Not really much to say for the end of this week except that yesterday was probably my best day since Ive been here. We had 11 discipleships! I value these more than evangelism bc anybody can say a prayer to please an american. Those wanting to grow is truly awesome.

One lady who let us in said "Ill welcome anybody into my house who is going to teach me about the bible, because the Catholics just dont do that"

We took groceries to a family in need because he was sick and through that were able to do a disscipleship lesson with the family and today gave them lessons 3 and 4

There is a guy named Javier id like yall to pray for because he didnt want to accept christ because he is living in sin. He said he likes to drink and fight with his friends and we had been building a relationship with him and shopping at his store all week. Today, we left him a track and bible because it was our last day and he said "id like a bible because I dont have one and I know it has a lot of beautiful words in it"

Tommorow morning I am going back to guayaquil and will meet Catarama team and leave there saturday morning.

Thanks for all the prayers!
At Hotel
Tuesday, July 06, 2010

So saturday I was supposed to meet the team to go to Portoviejo at 745. When I arrived at hotel, myself and the translators found out that their luggage was misplaced and that we were not leaving until 5 pm. We left then and arrived safely here.

The pastor I am working with ended up being Pentecostal, which is ok I guess but he has a lot of weird rules and rituals. I guess Id rather not talk bad about him or the denomination because we all serve the same God, just have different ways about doing it.

Today I am actually at the hotel all day. I decided not to go out this morning because I was not feeling well. Took some cipro and a long nap and am feeling better. We had 3 in our cell group on the first day which is good and God has opened many doors for us. Almost everyone we have tried to talk to has been receptive to us speaking with them

Hi everybody,

This week has been pretty fun. Its my break week and I spent the first part of it in Quito and then flew to Guayaquil on wednesday where Im staying with Daniel, a translator. Yesterday we went to the iguana park and walked in the plaza at the bay. This morning we went to the amazon park where they have animals from the Amazon. It was pretty cool and got some nice pics. Most pictures of my trips so far are on my facebook. If you have one, check them out
Its been a while

Hey all,

I was unable to get to a computer all last week while in Ambato. I have a couple stories I would like to share

1) My first week in Ibarra, I was taking pictures infront of a white truck when 3 dogs chased me so I had to jump in the bed, all the time while the owner was watching...I turned to my left to see people who were selling veggies out of something the equivalent to a Uhaul truck laughing hysterically. So this week, we walk up to a house to do evangelism and out of nowhere comes 4 or 5 dogs and I yell "watch ou"to my translator who throws his hands up while backing up, knocking both water bottles out of my hand and after a few seconds, the dogs backed down...twice in two weeks, just my luck.

2) We were in a village called Wachi la derosa and had a great turnout of kids, almost 25 on the first day. At cell group that night, we had 3 or 4 adults and about 15 children. Next day we had about same number of children play, more adults at cell group and more kids as well. We heard an announcement that the kids had a party at 3 the next day so we decided to go to another village because they got out of school at 2 anyways. More on this on #3...

3) The soccer team(amy, I, Daniel, and Josue) went to Latacunga to help Gary(who does training for national police). I learned alot of self defense and also we broke soldiers into groups to share with them. Almost all accepted and as we were leaving, the commander told us that he had been praying for something like this because he felt alone in his beliefs and hopes that this will bring him some comfort and others will also believe the same as him.
After returning to the hotel, we learned that the kids from the previous two days came running to the other americans and asked where we were multiple time because they wanted to play soccer and frisbee with us and do bible study rather than go to the party....talk about touching. Needless to say, we went back the next day and had more kids and over 20 in group that night, along with 8 adults. I see that community doing very well.

This is my break week now. Yesterday I went to Teleferico, a theme park and mountain that you take a cable car up. Then I went to church with Cristina, and today(sunday), went to church with ronnie. I think I'm going to the equator museum tommorow.

Special shout outs to my buddies that have been here: Elizabeth, Matt, Jessica, Daniel, Ronnie, Cristina and her madre, Amy, Christopher, and a host of others. Yall are awesome!

Thanks for keeping up,
Andy Gordon
Today was quite amazing
Wednesday, June 16, 2010

So today I was outside the medical clinic doing evangelism...actually my nationals were and I was excited that they were doing it and enjoying. There was a kid, probably 3 years old who loved to be picked up and thrown in the air or hang upside down and a girl from TX named Elizabeth(aka Cali) and I played with him for a while.

This afternoon we went to play soccer at the same place as yesterday(where 4 accepted) and today there were older boys, mid teens. We played with them for a while and then shared and they all accepted...not only that but they said they all wanted to have a bible study next tuesday at 3 in the park. This was of their own doing...very exciting.

Safely Here
Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Hey everybody,

I made it here safely and everything has been going extreemly well. Today I did door to door in the morning and then soccer in the afternoon because the kids were in school. We met a lady named Gloria who was a Catholic and she knew most of what we said but when we talked about a personal and growing relationship with Christ through his word. She started balling crying and was ginuine in what she said. We have lead many to Him and even men of young families though the cell groups where we disciple have not been what we would like. We will do alot of door to door discipling tommorow to reach out to those people again. Please pray that God would open the doors to make disciples.

Thanks! Andy

Just a few days
Wednesday, June 09, 2010

Hey guys,

So the last few nights when I lay down, so much stuff runs through my head that I want to do or need to do or just full blown excitement that it has been trouble trying to sleep. I'm starting to pack and gather things I should take and finish up on my presentation of the good news. I found a verse that I will share with yall and also use while I'm there:

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

Please be in prayer as I travel and for those I will have a chance to reach out to in Ibarra next week. This will be a time when I play soccer with children and teens so please pray for many of them to show up. Thanks and please let me know who all is here by leaving a message if possible!

Andy

A week away!
Sunday, June 06, 2010
I can't believe it buts its only a week away now. Most of the nervousness has turned into full blown excitement. I'm not packed much yet but I think I'm for the most part mentally and spiritually prepared! This summer has been awakening for me so far at the amount of people in my generation is not afraid to leave the country either for missions or vacation. That makes me feel good that our generation is going to do what it takes to reach out to the world. I hope that in the future, more and more young people put their lives on hold to serve Him and others, as we are commanded to reach out and love those who have not heard

Hey guys,

I just wanted to thank those of you who are taking the time to keep up with me during my trip. I leave two weeks from tommorow and it's almost overwhelming. My biggest fear is that I wont pack something that I really need. Please be in prayer for a safe trip and for the people that I'll be able to talk to and also that God will be working in me and not allow distractions to get the best of me and that I need to focus on him.

Thanks and will update in a couple weeks!

Andy
