Opportunities abound in Rwanda for those wanting to go "on mission." Church planting, evangelism, short-term trips, leadership training, and community initiatives await those looking to connect with life-changing outreaches.

The headlines of 2009 would indicate that the world is in a really bad state. Quite frankly, 2009 started out pretty rocky for me personally. It was the most intense spiritual warfare I had ever experienced. In all things we are to give thanks ... so I did. My husband and I prayed more and sought the Lord for guidance continually. How is the ministry in Rwanda going to survive in an economy that is spiraling downward ... out of control? We lost our National Director to Compassion International. Ok ... now what? Our campaign director and financial director, Anna and Asnath have proven themselves faithful and capable to continue the work ... praise the Lord!
Well, what about funding? We were almost out of money in the Rwanda country fund. In God's grace and mercy, He gave Mike the fortitude to make appointments and ask our beloved friends and ministry partners to support Rwanda at $500 per month! I was extremely uncomfortable doing this, but ... God raised up faithful ones to give sacrificially to the work in Rwanda ... praise the Lord! God presented a check for $20,000 in December for community impact funds to assist children in Rwanda to go to school, which enables e3 Rwanda to re-register as an NGO for 2010!
And ... to make matters worse, our personal support went way down! We arrived back from Rwanda at the end of September to find out that we didn't have a paycheck. That same week we were told someone paid our rent through the middle of January! Praise the Lord!
Faithful ministry partners have kept us and the work in Rwanda going this year. Even though our bank account may be "empty", God has fully provided in His time to continue ministering here and Rwanda.
So, we are praising God for a bad 2009! We pray that 2010 will be just as bad!
Praising Him!
Mary
Mention Rwanda, and mind-numbing images flood the mind, unbidden and unwanted. The world never should forget the “hundred day” nightmare that left the macheted, burned and mutilated corpses of as many as one million men, women, and children in the highways and byways of Rwanda. But the genocide didn’t end when the killing stopped. Until forgiveness and restoration are complete, until tribal hatred is dealt a lethal blow, the “madness responsible” for 1994 will continue to steal, kill and destroy. Today, more slowly perhaps, but just as fatal.
