Opportunities abound in Kenya for those wanting to go "on mission." Church planting, evangelism, short-term trips, leadership training, and community initiatives await those looking to connect with life-changing outreaches.
Until recently, Kenya – slightly larger than France – has been an oasis of peace in war-torn East Africa. But its 39 million people are strongly divided down tribal lines – difference that plunged the nation into two months of violence that left as many as 1,500 dead and a quarter of a million homeless, following charges of vote-rigging after the December 2007 elections. Those who were rendered homeless through the violence are still struggling with everyday life. Some those people up to now are still living in the camps. Kenya is the regional hub for trade and finance in East Africa. Although its trade and exports are significantly further ahead than neighboring countries causing its economy and people to living a slightly advanced lifestyle, similar to those other countries it still suffers massively from the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
